Depending on its exposure to payment fraud, the e-commerce service may:
- ship directly the product or
- run fraud detection first and then ship.
If there is a payment risk, order fulfillment is delayed. The table below summarizes these two options and the reasons that may lead to each.

Fraud detection. In the case the e-commerce service carries out fraud detection, it may perform two types of detections to reduce its risk of payment fraud:
- fully automated detection and
- manual detection.
